Megan Barnett

As the news editor for Portfolio.com, Megan Barnett covers breaking news, writing daily briefs as well as news features. Previously, she was a staff writer for SmartMoney, for which she covered the brokerage industry and personal investing.

Barnett spent four years at U.S. News and World Report as an investigative reporter and a staff writer for the business section. She was also a writer for The Industry Standard for the duration of the magazine’s existence, in both its San Francisco and New York bureaus.

Before becoming a journalist, Barnett gave Wall Street a try as an equity research associate for Hambrecht & Quist, which is now part of J.P. Morgan Chase.

She is a graduate of the University of Virginia.
